Reactions of YBa₂Cu₃O_7-X with High Temperature-High Pressure Water

Abstract

The instability and reactions of YBa²Cu³O^7-x were studied in the presence of water. YBa²Cu³O^7-x is decomposed slowly in water at room temperature, but quickly at the temperature above 100°C. The reaction products from YBa²Cu³O^7-x were BaCO³, CuO, Y(OH)³, X-phase (probably to be Ba²Cu(OH)⁶), etc., but did not contain Y²BaCuO⁵.
