Abstract
The compound YBa2(Cu1-xFex)3Oy with the orthorhombic structure was successfully prepared in the wide composition range (0≤x<0.15) by a new preparation method, and the superconducting properties were examined. This orthorhombic phase shows the superconducting transition near 90K even for x=0.12 and shows the orthorhombic-to-tetragonal phase transition on heating. The stabilization of the orthorhombic phase seems to be due to the arrangement of Fe ions in the Cu1-O planes.
