Abstract
The superconductive ceramics of Bi-Sr-Ca-Cu-O system, (4336) has been synthesized using the mixed powder of carbon free materials [Bi2O3, Sr(OH)28H2O, Ca(OH)2 and Cu2O]. The properties of synthesized ceramics were examined by X-ray diffractometry, scanning electron microscopy, electron probe microanalysis and susceptibility measurement. The most favorable temperature range for the high Tc phase formation was between 870°C and 880°C, regardless of the mixed powder was calcined or not. It was found that the large crystal of Ca-Sr-Cu-O phase crystallizes in a matrix at initial sintering stage and the superconductivity of synthesized ceramics increases as the crystal dissolves into the matrix.
