Abstract
Green powders with nominal composition of Bi4Sr3Ca3Cu6Oy doped with 0.5-3 mass%Ag were prepared by the impregnation technique using the aqueous solution of AgNO3. The sintering and superconducting properties of the green powders were studied by TG-DTA analysis, XRD, EPMA and magnetic susceptibility measurements.
TG-DTA measurements indicated that increase of Ag content in the green powders decreases melting points (partial and whole melting) of the powder, and increases the weight loss from 500 to 860°C. The formation of high-Tc (110 K) phase in the sintered specimen is enhanced significantly by Ag-doping of 1 mass% or more in the green powders.
