Abstract

The effect of mechanical grinding (MG) on the physical properties of YBa2Cu3Oy-Ag composite superconductor was examined. The critical current density (Jc) and the global pinning force (F ?? ) increase by the Ag addition. The Jc of the samples without MG treatment shows the maximum value at about Ag 8 wt%. On the other hand, that of the samples with MG treatment is constant independent of Ag content. The F ?? of the samples increases by the Ag addition, and the F ?? of the samples with MG treatment is larger than that of the samples without MG treatment. There may be difference of the distribution of Ag between in the samples without and with MG treatment.
