Abstract
Recent progress in materials search for new high-Tc superconductors by using a high-pressure synthesis method is reviewed. Particularly through a series of studies exploring the alkaline earth copper oxide system it is demonstrated how the application of high pressure can affect the phase formation and thus can provide novel mate-rials with unusual structures or compositions.
