Abstract
The coexistence of ureteropelvic junction (Upj) obstruction and vesicoureteral reflux (VUR) was seen in 3 of 36 consecutive patients undergoing pyeloplasty. These children were all boys. They fell into 2 clinical groups : group 1-fixed Upj obstruction with VUR. Group 2-reversible Upj obstruction due to extrinsic facter or secondary to VUR. In group 1, pyeloplasty was the initial surgical correction, on the other hand, primary correction of the reflux was appropriate in group 2. For detection of this entity, a voiding cystourethrogram is mandatory as a part of the routine evaluation of children with hydronephrosis.
