Abstract
We report a rare case of extrarenal nephroblastoma (Wilms' tumor) in childhood. A 1-year and 6-month old girl was admitted to our hospital with a complaint of vomiting and abdominal mass. A smooth and hard mass of fist size was palpable in the lower abdomen. CT scan and US showed a well defined solid mass in the pelvic cavity. She underwent extirpation of an encapsulated tumor located in the retroperitoneum. Histopathological examination showed extrarenal nephroblastic-type nephroblastoma. Combination chemotheraphy with actinomycin D and vincristine was performed postoperatively. She has been well, without recurrence for ten months since surgery. Although extrarenal nephroblastoma is very rare, it should be kept in mind as a differential diagnosis of retroperitoneal tumor in children.
