Abstract
We present two cases of congenital midline cervical cleft which consists of a skin defect, a skin tag and a sinus at the midline of the neck. A skin tag and a sinus were present at the cranial and caudal end of the defect, respectively. Case 1 was a 23-month-old girl. She presented the neck lesion at birth. After observation, complete excision of the lesion and the straight-line closure were performed. Postoperative contracture needed another operation using the Z-plasty technique. Case 2 was a newborn girl with a diagnosis of midline cervical cleft at birth. The lesion was completely excised and closed with the Z-plasty technique at the newborn stage. The characteristic form of this disorder provides a diagnosis with ease. It is essential to perform a complete excision of the lesion and to prevent contracture with the plastic surgical technique.
