Abstract

Dissection of the preperitoneal space, spermatic cord and spermatic vessels is one of the most important procedures in laparoscopic percutaneous extraperitoneal closure (LPEC) for inguinal hernia in boys. We performed saline-injection LPEC (iLPEC) with syringe-connectable Hap-Her-Closure (i-Lapa-Her) for inguinal hernia in boys. We reported the usefulness of iLPEC. Four boys (6 patent processus vaginalis) underwent iLPEC. The operator was a senior resident in our department. He was capable of performing iLPEC without hemorrhage in the peritoneal space. iLPEC was the same as LPEC except for the saline injection. iLPEC is a useful and safe procedure because it follows the same step-by-step procedures as LPEC and can be used to dissect the preperitoneal space easily.
