Abstract

The results of 21 percutaneous needle aspiration cytology procedure in case of peripheral lung lesions using a gyro-fluoroscope were analyzed. Of 19 malignant lung lesions, 18 were diagnosed cytologically, and two tuberculomas were diagnosed bacteriologically. Of 21 patients, in 20 (95.2%) were diagnosed correctly. Slight transient hemoptysis was experienced in only one case, but there was no case of pneumothorax or dissemination. The gyro-fluoroscope yielded high accuracy with few complications.
