Background. Pulmonary hamartoma is usually the parenchymal type and the endobronchial type is rare. We report a case of endobronchial hamartoma in a subsegmental bronchus removed by endoscopic electrosurgery. Case. A 74-year-old man with situs inversus totalis was referred to our hospital for further examination of an abnormal shadow on chest CT film. Chest CT revealed an intraluminal tumor with calcification arising at the orifice of the left B^3b, and volume loss of the left S^3b. Bronchoscopic examination revealed submucosal tumor from the orifice of the left B^3b, and the biopsy specimen was histologically diagnosed as endobronchial hamartoma. Endoscopic resection of the tumor was performed with an electrosurgical snare under intravenous anesthesia. To date, the patient's condition has remained good 30 months after the endoscopic resection. Conclusion. We concluded that endoscopic resection can be useful before having to employ surgical resection for endobronchial hamartoma in a subsegmental bronchus if it has a stalk.
