Abstract
We identified the knowledge of local people about plant species and determined specific conservation areas for land and water conservation purposes. The study was conducted at the sacred natural site Kabuyutan Panghulu Gusti (KPG) in Ciomas Village in Indonesia. We used the participant observation method to obtain cultural information. The results revealed that 130 plant species, dominated by tree species (69.2%), were found and recognized as having conservation functions that would be useful in the totally 15 conservation areas. We established a conservation area map to implement conservation strategies, and suggested to strengthen the custodian's role as the primary manager.
