Abstract
Waterfront in metropolitan area is habitat for biological community in addition to amenity space, but it is difficult to investigate its structure and function. To clarify them, we defined enclosed landscape along the river in metropolitan area as “waterside area”, and investigated the relationship between land use and avifauna in waterside area at Nakanoshima in Osaka. Avian species richness and the number of species were positively influenced by the vegetation with abundant layer, concrete bank of river and lawn. On the other hand, they were negatively influenced by road and buildings. However, these artificial areas were available for some species.
