Adaptable native herbs on the embankment slope and a greening method therefor in a downstream region of the Teshio River

Abstract

In order to realize the greening of the embankment using native herbs, we are examining the herb selection and greening methods. Since 2015, a field test has been carried out in the downstream region of the Teshio River, using the seedlings and seeds of a native species variety, changing the timing and planting method. The results showed that, compared to autumn planting, spring planting gave better results. In addition, better results were obtained with a spraying method compared with greening by vegetation sheets. Appropriate native herbs and a greening method for revegetation of the embankment slope in the downstream region of the Teshio River were clarified.
