This study focused on the spatial distribution of Ischaemum anthephoroides to evaluate the conservation effect of coastal plants by avoiding embankments for reconstruction of coastal forest in the sand dune ecotone of Sendai City, Miyagi Prefecture, Japan, which was affected by the Great East Japan Earthquake and Tsumani. In the survey, aerial images were taken in 2020 using a small unmanned aerial vehicle, and the position and size of each individual I. anthephoroides was measured. The number of I. anthephoroides was significantly lower in embankment area than in sandy beach and non-embankment area. The non-embankment area had fewer small individuals than the sandy beach area. Furthermore, there were many naturally regenerated black pine, in the non-embankment area; therefore, it was thought that the non-embankment area was difficult for new settlement and growth of I. anthephoroides.
