Abstract
Tibial plateau fractures are fractures within load-bearing joints which require good repositioning and strong fixation, so plates are frequently used. Of the 33 knees that underwent joint fusion surgery at our hospital between 2004 and 2008, we compared 19 knees in which conventional plates (CP) were used and 14 knees in which locking plates (LP) were used. As a result, LP had little step-off progress compared to CP. Further, the LP and also had good results in the anatomical and functional evaluations by Hohl & Luck, so it is thought that LP is a useful tool in tibial plateau fractures.
