Abstract
The minimum deviation angle method has been applied to the refractometry of high temperature melts. The error sources accompanying the measurements have been examined and their effects have been evaluated. The optical window of the prismatic cell made of transparent fused silica results in the most significant error. This work presents a method for the correction of the systematic error caused by this deviation. The refractive indices of LiNO3-CsNO3 binary melt were determined with good accuracy over the entire composition range.
