Encapsulating Peritoneal Sclerosis (EPS) in Three Dogs

Abstract

Encapsulating peritoneal sclerosis (EPS) is a rare clinical syndrome characterized by the fibrous sclerosis and adhesion of the abdominal organs. We have recognized three dogs with similar condition of human EPS, and had obtained characteristic findings such as thick membrane surrounding the intestines or the intestines gathering together by Echo and CT scan. We did surgical and medical therapy, and hypothesized that the results of surgical reduction affect the dog’s prognosis.
