We came across two young dogs without a history of laparotomy in which intra-abdominal membranous structures were found during ovariohysterectomy. The membranous structures made ovariohysterectomy difficult; greater omental hypoplasia was suspected. A similar condition has been reported in humans without a history of laparotomy; however, it has not been reported in veterinary medicine. It was unclear whether either or both membranous structures and suspicion of greater omental hypoplasia in this case were congenital or secondary. It is important to report such cases because similar cases are likely to exist potentially.
