Abstract
In 1968, accidental poisoning by cooking rice oil contaminated by PCBs (what we call Kanemi Yusho poisoning) occurred in Japan. Even after about 30 years form the sorrowful event occurred, the environmental pollutions by man-made chemicals have been our great concern still. The methods to estimate environmental pollutions using wild animals may be divided into two approaches. One is detection of environmental contaminants in animals' body and the other is to estimate some responses of animals to environmental pollutants. In this review, I introduced the basic concept of environmental monitoring by animal's P450 as an indicator and the our investigation went on.
