Abstract
In quarantine, a young female Aldabra tortoise died in October, 1994 at Osaka Municipal Tennoji Zoological Garden. After pathological and bacteriological examinations, it became clear that the tortoise died of Mycobacterium nonchromogenicum complex (M.terrae complex) infection concurrently with Aspergillus fumigatus infection. From the pathological changes, it was assumed that the case had been infected with the mycobacteria at first, and after weakened by the infection, got infected with mycosis. The time of the tortoise's infection with mycobacteria is unknown. This is the first report of a case of Mycobacterium nonchromogenicum complex infection in Aldabra tortoise.
