It is naturally conceivable that the DOPA-oxidase contained in the melanin producing strain may be more active than that of the pyocyanin producing or of the non pigment producing strain of Ps. aeruginosa. The previous experiment hawever showed that the DOPA oxidation by the melanin strain was a little and the culture of th non pigment producing strain seemed to inhibit oxidation as a whole.
In this report, studies are made of the DOPA-oxidase contained in the strains of Ps. aeruginosa.
The 20 strains used are classified 5 types with the activity of these enzymes. The degree of enzymatic action varied in each strain, and even in the supernate of fluid culture or washing bacteria.
Non pigment producing strain of Ps. aeruginosa and Ps. fluorescens are slightly active in DOPA-oxidase.
Cytochrome oxidase and indophenol oxidase are also studied.
