Abstract
This study reports on a support system for Japanese listening comprehension skills. The Apple iPod is used because it is possible to build multiple-choice questions within listening exercises. The system, based on a database of 280 questions classified according to content and vocabulary and grammatical difficulty, both identities learner weaknesses through a pre-test and offers appropriate exercises. This study reports on how listening practice with the iPod resulted in clear improvements in listening comprehension, and on how it is more useful for advanced Japanese learners, as well as learners with native knowledge of Chinese characters.
