Abstract
In this report, the author implemented an extensive reading (hence ER) class in one room of Akita University Library with the help of its librarians and the library system. That support made it easier for an ER class instructor to implement an ER class, because the instructor does not need to manage the ER books, bring them to the classroom, or select proper ER books. On the other hand, a silent library environment made it difficult to build up a "Reading Community" through in-class activities. We need further discussion on how to incorporate both Sustained Silent Reading and the building of Reading Community activities in a library environment.
