Abstract
This is a report of a class for local Japanese language volunteers on how to respond to speaking production issues of Japanese language learners. The purpose was not to teach phonetics, but to provide examples of the pronunciation issues that Japanese language learners have and to increase the acceptance level of pronunciation "errors." By reviewing a video of class and questionnaire results, the author found the volunteers' desire to produce perfect pronunciation had become more relaxed. However, some volunteers were not clear about the difference between 'pronunciation' and 'notation' and they wanted specialists to provide concrete methods to teach correct pronunciation.
