Abstract
The one of the most common learning needs of beginner Japanese learners are “to learn about Japanese culture” and “to improve natural communication skills” ; therefore, we focused on using commercials to meet these needs. In doing so, we carried out an “activity of making commercials” linked to the learning content of beginner Japanese. This activity enabled students to think profoundly and creatively about incorporating what they learned in class into commercials. Students also enjoyed communicating with friends and observed improvement in Japanese. We believe this activity helped to build students’ confidence in learning Japanese.
