Development of Role-Play–Based Scenarios to Promote Mutual Understanding in Diversifying Communities

Abstract

We developed role-play–based scenarios to help local residents (i) understand the realities of an increasingly diverse community from multiple perspectives and (ii) consider effective ways of communication. The scenarios were created based on interviews and our own experiences. This presentation outlines the scenarios and reports the results of their pilot implementation at a university. Based on these findings, we discuss future challenges in using realistic scenarios in community settings.
