Abstract
This paper describes the experimental results that the angle of internal friction of the landslide clay on the slide surface is not affected very much by grain size distribution, but contens of clay minerals are in flueced considerably and the content of montmorillonite has the greatest influence.
The relationship between the angle of internal friction φ' and the content of montmorillonite Bn is shown as follows.
φ=φ0;exp (-A·Bn)
Bn≤40%
where φ0 and A are the constants determined by the kinds of the minerals contained (excluding clay minerals).
The experimental results can be applied to the exploration of slide surface and the estimated values of angle of internal friction on the slide surface.
