Abstract

X-ray diffraction examination in three Tertiary-Landslides, different types and sizes in Tohoku district has revealed that Detritus slump and active moved Rock glide are abundant in smectite compared with primary type of Rock block slide in slip surface.
The relationship between smectite and clinoptilolite detected in clay-size material shows to be a inverse correlation and much content of smectite is almost invariabley present in the neary part of slip surface. It is suggested that smectite mainly containing in the slip surface have been derived from the alteration of clinoptilolite in consequence of cristallization in 020 direction.
