Our first paper (Part I) has been mainly concerned with the fundamental concept of the newly proposed inverse calculation method of c and φ along a given slip surface. The present paper deals with the embodiment of the concept when the ordinary method of slices (Fellenius Method) is adopted as a means to calculate factors of safety. Results of appling this procedure to some fictitious problems are also presented to demonstrate the availability of the method. As a result, it has been made clear that the proposed method is particularly effective with the utilization of a digital computer.
Applications of this method to real landslides will appear in a succeeding paper.
