Abstract
In the conventional design procedures of piles for landslide preventio n, there are two kind of approaches to carry out structural calculation of them. One is based on an elastic supported beam model and other is based on a cantilever beam model.
The former one is applied in case of subgrage reaction around a pile to be increased linearly in proportion to pile deflection.
The latter is applied in case of the subrage reaction to be insufficient.
In the above procedures, there is a contradiction that concept of displacement of sliding mass is not takeninto account in the design though the sliding mass moves actually.
This paper deals with an analytical metohd for landslide prevention piles subjected to any sliding displacement. Some case studies by the authors' method show that this method can predict more reali stic behavior of landslide prevention piles and also can cover the cases of both; the elastic supported beam model and the cantilever beam one. It is concluded that the authors' method is a generali zed one for predicting behavior of the landslide prevention pile.
