Abstract
The following facts were learned based on the results of research on a method of estimating the depth and longitudinal shape of a slip surface formed in a landslide slope.
(1) The special features of a slip surface that must be kept in mind when determining the position of the slip surface by observing cores made by boring a landslide slope were indentified and summarized.
(2) The depth of a slip surface was found from the longitudinal length of the landslide slope and the depth of the bed rock using formulae (1) and (2).
(3) The longitudinal shape of a slip surface was successfully estimated using the critical slip surface analysis method in a case where the slope strata can be categorized as a weathered stratum and bed rock.
(4) Based on the findings described in the three previous paragraphs, a summary in flow chart from of a slip surface shape estimation method that conforms to both engineering and geological principles was obtained, and it was determind that this estimation method can be applied to landslide slpoes.
