Abstract

The Kamenose area is well-known for its landslide from of old. This landslide is found in the Nijô Group (late Miocene) of which the stratigraphic subdivision in this area is shown as follows in ascending order.
basement: Ryoke type granite
unconformity
Nijô Group (Harakawa Formation)
A member: andesite lava (Myôjin-yama volcanic rock) tuff-breccia, tuff and agglomerate.
B member: conglomerate andesite lava (Dorokoro volcanic rock) tuff-breccia, tuff and agglomerate.
C member: conglomerate and sandstone andesite lava (Dorokoro volcanic rock)
unconformity
Osaka Group: conglomerate
In this paper the writer discussed the correlation of these geological data and the results of the seismic prospecting, and also he makes it clear that this landslide is closely related with the palaeogeography of the above B member assumed geologically.
