Abstract
Lower limb wounds with diabetes and dialysis as the underlying disease, tend to take a long period of time to heal up. In the case of critical limb ischemia, revascularization by endovascular treatment or bypass surgery takes a longer period of time as first step. While this treatment period, in most cases patients rest all day long on the bed cause wound itself and pain. Bed rests often cause disuse syndrome and dementia in the elderly. For this reason, there are not a few patients lose the ability to walk, even though the wound was healed. By applying technique of Total Contact Cast, we conducted an early rehabilitation after surgery. As a result, early recovery of walking function and prevention of dementia was achieved and length of hospital stay was shortened.
