Abstract
This paper describes an application of finite element pocedure for illuminance distribution analysis. The purpose of this paper is to study a radiative characteristic of light sources and the treatment of obstructions. For a fluorescent lamp and a semiconductor laser as light source, a computer simulation is carried out and compared with the result of measurement for two types of light source. A sphere and a circular aperture are introduced as obstructions in experiment. In the case of the fluorescent lamp, the sphere is set up to cast a complete shadow and a half shadow on a measured surface. The illuminance distribution by simulation agrees with the result of measurement. In the case of the semiconductor laser, simulation and experiment installed the circular aperture under light source are carried out similarly. The result is the same to the case of the fluorescent lamp.
