Abstract
Desert area occupying 20% or larger portion of the land area of the globe has left unexploited. This paper is concerned with exploitation initiative of the desert areas for welfare of human beings as the last frontier. The exploitation of desert will extend over a wide variety of scientific and technological fields; therefore, this initiative is of great promise to generate a new business entity consisting of many manufacturing and non-manufacturing enterprises to overcome the current recession which has developed in all members due to the recession of key enterprise in every business entity in Japan. Of course, this initiative will also make a great contribution to provide desert nations with international supports.
