Abstract
This research made the comparative analysis of the WEEE (waste electrical and electronic equipment) recycling system of China, Japan and South Korea from a viewpoint of EPR (Extended Producer Responsibility), and aimed at considering the way of the system in China. Since January 2011, the first recycling system of WEEE was enforced in China. Legal recyclers purchase WEEE from consumers because the value of WEEE as resources is high. However, the legal recycler needs to heighten the purchasing power of WEEE because illegal recyclers who don’t pay the cost for preventing environmental pollution and health impairment are purchasing high quality WEEE at a high price. Therefore we concluded that EPR should be introduced into the WEEE recycling system referringespecially to a South Korean system, and the producers need to pay recycling cost including the purchase prices of WEEE.
