Abstract
Japan has enacted and enforced the “Small-size home appliance recycling law” in April 2013. Since then, local governments have pursued to implement it. Being a “promotion type” of law, it requires stakeholders to cooperate in devising collection and recycling implementation methods. As a new law, local governments are implementing it on a trial and error basis until now. In May 2014, we conducted a research on how the small-size home appliance recycling system is being utilized by local governments and enterprises authorized by the national government. In this presentation, we will share our research results and discuss issues brought to light in the course of our research.
