Abstract
This paper reexamines the link between imperfect competition and the effects of fiscal policy on output and welfare. We develop a monopolistic competition model in the goods markets to exhibit two Keynesian features (nominal wage rigidity and inelastic labor supply). The model shows that the balanced budget multiplier and the government expenditure multiplier approach to one, as competition in the goods market becomes more perfect.
