Abstract
To understand the effect of Palm Methyl Ester (PME) mixing on spray combustion characteristics of diesel oil, the intermittent spray flame formed in a high temperature and high pressure combustion vessel was visualized by ICCD camera and analyzed by two color method. The mixing rate of PME to diesel oil was 60%. The injection pressure was changed from 34MPa to 100MPa and the effect of injection pressure on spray combustion characteristics were examined. It is confirmed that the ignition delay becomes shorter with the increase of injection pressure and the difference between PME60 and diesel oil is very small. On the other hand, flame temperature and soot production decreased slightly with the PME mixing in all injection pressures.
