Abstract
In this paper, the author has proved that the energy realisable in the atmosphere by the rearrangement of air masses, initially placed in an unstable manner, cannot be calculated by Margules' method.
Further the author has proposed a new method of expressing the degree of unstableness of the air masses of any configuration, using the concept of entropy.
