Abstract
Contribution of superimposed higher harmonics to magnetic losses in electrical iron sheets was examined at power frequencies. Results show that magnetizing processes by the PWM voltage excitation are similar to those by the ac magnetization superimposed with a carrier frequency magnetization and are different from those by the rectangular voltage excitation having the same voltage height and the same exciting duration having a large amount of lower order higher harmonics. As a result we have proposed a practical measuring method for the magnetic loss equivalent to that under the PWM voltage excitation.
