Abstract
Magnetically induced super-resolution (MSR) is one of the methods to realize high-density magneto-optical recording. We investigated MSR by front aperture detection (FAD) with magnetic field modulation recording. The structure of the FAD disk was optimized, taking account of the balance between thermomagnetic recording characteristics and readout characteristics on MSR. We realized a ±25% recording power tolerance for a high areal density of 2.8 Gbit/inch², on the optimized FAD disk.
