Abstract
This paper describes the iron loss, copper loss, and mechanical loss of a linear pulse motor (LPM) for a total artificial heart from the viewpoint of improving in the power consumption. In a no-load test, the total loss of the LPM was 27.1 W in experimental conditions where the average frequency fa was 88 Hz and the driving current I was 1.66A. In the no-load test, the copper loss Wc occupied 50% or more of W in the average frequency range 0-31 Hz at I=1.66A. The iron loss Wi occupied 50% or more of W in the average frequency range 31-88 Hz at I=1.66A. In a mock test, the maximum efficiency of the LPM was 10.3% at fa=88Hzand I=1.66A.
