Accuracy of diagnostic models for atmospheric dispersion crucially depends on quality and quantity of meteorological input data. Thus, the dependence of model accuracy on deployment of meteorological equipment is discussed. The models are a mass-consistent model for wind-fields and a random-walk model for atmospheric dispersion of pollutants. From the past verification studies, it is found that, for the point source, the measurements of local small-scale winds and a vertical wind-profile near the release point are very important. Thus, in practice, we propose the following meteorological network ; (1) surface stations whose density is high near the release point and low far from the release point, (2) at least one remote sensing system which is settled near the release point to obtain wind and temperature profiles.
As a final report of a series of verification studies, performance of model are summarized.
