1. A method for the purification of D-erythrose using Dowex 1 borate column has been presented. 2. A product formed from D-erythrose by treatment with pyridine has been isolated by Dowex 1 borate column chromatography and characterized as D-erythrulose by preparation of the crystalline o-nitrophenylhydrazone.
