Abstract
We developed the utility for on-site recording of dose rate and program for data accumulation, mapping and management using the Global Positioning System (GPS) and a geographic information system (GIS) (DRaMM-GiGs) to perform prompt and reliable investigations in a decontamination project. The system simultaneously accumulates data on dose rate, date, time and position, and integrates the accumulated data which are available to be viewed and analyzed on a map. The system incorporates a function which presets monitoring sites as a grid square, and allows to access easily to the preset monitoring sites using a personal digital assistant (PDA) with GPS even after removal of marks such as trees and bushes. It was confirmed that working time and manpower for monitoring and data analysis could be substantially reduced through preliminary operation.
