Porous polyethylene film as wet-dressing therapy for pressure ulcer

Abstract

Open Wet-dressing Therapy (OWT) proposed by Shunichi Toriyabe is widely used dressing technique for pressure ulcer, especially in old persons.
The technique is : Rinse wound with tap water. Dress wound with porous polyethylene film which sold as kitchen article. Dress a paper diaper on it.
Retrospective research in our hospital revealed that OWT was the best dressing method for pressure ulcers. Improvement in the method of application such as OWT has expanded the range of indications. (Online only)
