Abstract

Spitz nevus is a benign nevus that usually develops in childhood. However, despite having typical clinical symptoms and dermoscopic findings, some adult lesions might be diagnosed as atypical Spitz nevus or melanoma after histopathological evaluation. Therefore, when a clinical dermatologist encountered a Spitz nevus in an adult, it would be preferable that the managements include a biopsy and histopathological examination. After a definitive diagnosis of Spitz nevus of adults, it is important to explain to the patient why the lesion should be followed up. Moreover, it is necessary to create a system of a call from the medical institution when the patient failed to appear at the follow-up visit.
